Dallas, Texas 75240

The February meeting of the Book Club will be on Thursday, February 11, at 7:30 p.m. at the home of Susan Bowman (13358 Meadowside Dr., Dallas, 75240).  In keeping with Black History Month, we will discuss Between the World and Me, by Ta-Nehisi Coates, a memoir written as a series of letters to Coates's teenaged son that walks us through the course of his life.  Coates describes his observations and the evolution of his thinking on race, from Malcolm X to his conclusion that race itself is a fabrication, elemental to the concept of American (white) exceptionalism.  Please note that the Book Club generally meets on the second Wednesday of each month, but the February discussion will be held on a Thursday.  For the March meeting, we will read The Children Act, by Ian McEwan.  Please also note that several members are reading Middlemarch, by George Eliot.
